Travel

Traveling to Puerto Rico is a big commitment, and we truly appreciate those making the journey. To make the experience as smooth as possible, we’ve gathered some great recommendations and helpful tips below.

We also understand that the trip may not be possible for everyone. Please know that your presence means the world to us, and we fully support those who can’t attend. You’ll still be with us in spirit—and we’ll have our whole lives to celebrate together.

Do I need a passport to travel to PR?

If you're a U.S. citizen or green card holder, good news — no passport needed! Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory, so traveling there is just like flying to another state. A government-issued ID is all you need. If you’re not a U.S. citizen or your immigration status is more complex, we recommend checking with an immigration attorney or a trusted resource before booking your flight. The island is laid-back, but the airport is federally managed, and we want everyone to have a smooth, stress-free trip.

How do I get to Rincón?

Rincón is located on the western coast of Puerto Rico, about a 2.5-hour drive from San Juan. Most guests will fly into Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) in San Juan. There’s also a smaller airport, Rafael Hernández Airport (BQN) in Aguadilla, which is about a 30-minute drive from Rincón. We recommend renting a car to get around and explore the area. Rideshare services like Lyft and Uber do not operate on the west side of the island, so having your own transportation is important. For those who prefer not to drive, check back soon for more details on shuttle services and transportation companies we recommend.

Where should I stay?

We haven’t reserved a specific hotel for guests, but we’ve put together a few great options to help you plan your stay! Below are three nearby hotels that offer a range of styles and price points. There are also plenty of charming local bed and breakfasts in the area, which you can find online. Airbnb has many great options as well. If you go that route, we encourage you to choose a locally owned rental. Wherever you stay, we can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Heading Home: What to Know

When leaving Puerto Rico, there's no customs, but you will go through an agricultural inspection — it's right at the airport entrance, before check-in. All bags (even carry-ons) must be scanned to make sure you’re not bringing home fruits, plants, meats, or other restricted goodies. Once you're past the ag check, it’s business as usual: check in, go through TSA security, and head to your gate. Pro tip: The San Juan airport is busy so arrive 2–3 hours early- even if you have TSA pre-check or Clear.
